Competition: development of wood systems for nursery schools in Croatia.
System-based nursery school with the following main characteristics
- adaptable to different locations (regional and architectural aspects)
- adaptable to different sizes (functional aspect)
- sustainable mode of construction (energy efficiency, use of alternative energies, CO2-neutral)
- buildable by local companies using high-tech wood products with high degree of prefabrication (technology transfer).
System
Enclosing walls on three sides: post structure with wood surfaces and run-around installation duct close to floor. The system of rooms developed allows modules of varying size to be combined depending on requirements. The rooms are divided into the following units: basic module – group room for nursery school, basic module – group room for pre-school playgroups, hall / exercise room, administration / team rooms and utility rooms. These groups of rooms are stand-alone modules with a high degree of prefabrication. They are covered by a roof form that can be freely chosen. The necessary access/circulation areas are widened into multi-purpose niches and zones, thus avoiding “corridor solutions”. These versatile in-between spaces can be made wider to accommodate local requirements. The additive modular room cell system thus offers a high level of flexibility.
